Skin Care While Travelling

All Men Need to Moisturise, Even Those on the Go

For many men, the thought of moisturising conjures up images of their girlfriends slathering on fruity or floral scented creams. Not exactly a very manly image, right? However, there are a number of products on the market that are designed specifically for men. Here at Urban Swagman, we were recently featured in Bupa Travel Insurance's article about taking care of your skin while travelling. Moisturising is probably the most important part, and here's why:

Keeps Your Skin from Getting Dry and Flaky

There's nothing appealing about dry, flaky skin and that is exactly what you'll get if you don't keep up a good moisturising regimen. When your skin doesn't get enough moisture, it shrinks and tightens, which can result in cracks in the skin. Not only are these cracks not very attractive to look at, but they can also sometimes be painful if the damage goes deep enough. When moisturising, pay particular attention to your hands, feet elbows and knees, as these are some of the areas that are most prone to dryness and cracking.

Helps to Prevent Premature Wrinkles

A little moisture can go a long way towards helping to stave off fine lines and wrinkles. A lack of moisture in your skin results in it losing some of its natural plasticity, which enables your skin to bounce back from being pulled and stretched in making facial expressions. Over time, this loss of plasticity can lead to your skin being unable to return to its natural, relaxed state, resulting in wrinkles around your eyes, mouth and forehead. Use a moisturiser that is specifically designed for your face, like our Baby Face No-Beard Oil, as those designed for your body can be a bit too oily for your face.

Protects Against Sun Damage

Many moisturisers come equipped with SPF to protect your skin from the sun's damaging UV rays. With your busy and active lifestyle, it can sometimes be difficult to remember to apply sun protection, so getting it in your daily moisturiser can be a great way to do double duty. Even on cloudy days, sun protection is still important, so slather it on to keep yourself safe from sunburns, skin cancer and other sun damage.
